F.A. “JIM” DUGAN, JR.


Fortunè A. Dugan, Jr. is a seasoned trial attorney with a strong foundation as a former Assistant District Attorney in Orleans Parish, where he tried over 190 cases—86 by jury and more than 100 by judge. His prosecutorial experience laid the groundwork for a career focused on high-stakes litigation and courtroom advocacy.

Since entering private practice, he has handled a wide range of civil matters, with a concentration in insurance defense, subrogation, and casualty litigation. He has represented major insurers including Liberty Mutual and Progressive and has worked across numerous parishes in Louisiana as well as in multi-state railroad litigation. 

Now an associate at the Dugan Law Firm, Fortunè continues to provide skilled trial representation and litigation support. He also serves the legal community through leadership roles, including past service as Chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Bar Governance Committee.

Outside the courtroom, Fortunè is an accomplished pilot who holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating and experience flying a variety of corporate jet aircraft since 2001. 

He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts, along with several federal courts including the Eastern District of Louisiana and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.
