Judge Appoints James Dugan of The Dugan Law Firm to the Pradaxa Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee

Pradaxa-induced deaths and bleeding events have been mounting ever since the drug was approved in October 2010. Public concern over the drug has heightened even further with the December 2011 FDA safety alert regarding the drug’s alarming number of serious adverse events. Since early 2012, litigation has rapidly developed in both state and federal forums.

The Pradaxa Multidistrict Litigation (MDL 2385) was created in August 2012 and is a consolidated grouping of federal lawsuits filed against the manufacturer of Pradaxa, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. On September 27th, Chief Judge David R. Herndon of the Southern District of Illinois announced the appointment of a Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (“PSC”), a group of highly experienced attorneys who are responsible for guiding the litigation process on behalf of the plaintiffs. James Dugan of The Dugan Law Firm was one of several attorneys appointed by Judge Herndon to the PSC to lead and coordinate the litigation on behalf of individuals who were allegedly injured as a result of taking pradaxa.
