General Motors Vehicle Recall Lawsuits

General Motors Ignition Switch Recall: 2.6 Million Owners of General Motors Chevys, Pontiacs and Saturns May Receive Compensation!

General Motors (“GM”) has issued a massive recall for defective ignition switches in some of their most popular vehicles. These defective ignition switches have led to numerous accidents and at least 13 reported deaths, prompting congressional and legal investigations into General Motors.  This defect causes the car to suddenly turn off while driving, disabling the engine and electrical system which in turn affects the power steering, brakes and airbags. With these essential safety features disabled and drivers unable to control their vehicles, crashes from the ignition switch defect can lead to very serious injury.

**IMPORTANT** If you or a loved one were involved in an accident with a recalled GM vehicle that lost power prior to an accident, The Dugan Law Firm would like to speak with you. GM has recalled millions of vehicles because a faulty ignition switches and faulty air bag harnesses, which may have caused over 300 deaths.

History of General Motors Recall

News first surfaced in February of 2014 that GM vehicles were having problems with the ignition switch, leading to several crashes and deaths. Since that time, GM has recalled millions of cars for defective ignition switches, airbags, and power steering functions. The faulty GM ignitions are blamed for turning off vehicle engines and/or electrical systems due to jarring by going over a bump or being attached to a heavy key chain. This jarring actually puts the ignition in the off position, which could prevent air bags from deploying, in addition to disabling power steering and power brakes.

It has also become evident that GM was aware of the defects many years prior to issuing a recall, prompting a congressional investigation into why the company did not act sooner to prevent accidents related to the defective ignition switches. Evidence has shown that GM was aware of the potential defect as early as 2001, and did not act for over a decade despite reported accidents and several internal memos informing the company about the defective ignition switches.
